How to turn a weekly cost into a monthly cost
A month is not four weeks. Turn a weekly figure into a monthly one by going through the year, and turn a monthly figure back into a weekly one.
Task 1A month is not four weeks3 questions
A year has 52 full weeks and 12 months. So a month is 52 ÷ 12 = about 4.33 weeks.
Taking a month as 4 weeks counts only 48 weeks in the year, and leaves 4 out.
- Step 1: multiply the weekly figure by 52. That is the year
- Step 2: divide the year by 12. That is one month
Worked example: £150 a week. £150 × 52 = £7,800 a year. £7,800 ÷ 12 = £650 a month.
