How it works

Every room follows the same steps, so you always know what to do next.

  1. Read a few linesEach task opens with one idea in plain words. The technical term comes second.
  2. Do it in the booksPost to T-accounts, type a balance, pick the right account. The same moves the job needs.
  3. Get marked at onceRight or wrong, with the rule that explains it. When the books balance, you see it.
  4. Come back tomorrowOne correct answer a day keeps your days in a row. One reminder a day, at the time you choose.

Reading about bookkeeping is not doing it

Most people learn the rules and then freeze at the first real invoice. That gap is what Ledger Drill is for.

Questions

The short answers. The longer ones are on the pricing page.

Is it free?

Most of the first path is free, and so is the first module of every other path. Premium opens every room and every mock exam, at £12 a month.

Is this tax or accounting advice?

No. Ledger Drill is practice. It teaches how a record or a sum works, with any rate it needs given in the question. For your own tax, check GOV.UK or ask an accountant.

Do I need an account to start?

No. You can answer questions as a guest. Join when you want to keep your marks, and they move to your account.

Are there videos?

No. Each task is a few lines of reading, then questions you answer in the books. You learn by doing the entries.

Is Ledger Drill linked to AAT?

No. Ledger Drill is independent practice. It is useful alongside a bookkeeping course, but it is not affiliated with AAT and it does not award a qualification.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Every screen is designed for a phone first, and it works the same on a tablet or a desktop.

How is my work marked?

At once, by exact figures. A posting is right when the debits equal the credits and each account is on the correct side.
