How to get totals by month
Total a list of dated sales by month, with a month column and SUMIF, or with a pivot table grouped by month.

To total by month, each row has to say which month it belongs to. =MONTH(A2) returns the month of a date as a number from 1 to 12.

=SUMIF(D2:D11,2,C2:C11) adds the Net figure of every row where column D is 2. That is the total for February.
MONTH gives 1 for January of any year. If a list covers more than one year, add a YEAR column too, or use a pivot table.
