The mean
The mean is the average most people mean by average. Add the figures up, divide by how many there are, and know its weak spot.

Worked example: the bakery sells 30, 42, 36 and 44 loaves over 4 days. The total is 152. 152 ÷ 4 = a mean of 38 loaves a day.
