Costs that are part business and part private
Some costs are shared between the business and your own life. Split them in a fair way and record only the business share.
This path is practice in how the records and the sums work. It is not tax advice. Any rate or allowance in a question is an example for that question, so check GOV.UK for the current figures.
Task 1A fair split3 questions
Some costs cover both business and private use, such as a phone, a car or broadband. Only the business share goes in the record as a cost.
Split the cost by something you can measure and show: the share of the calls, the miles, the hours or the days that were for the business.
Keep a note of how you worked the split out, and keep it with the bill.
