Missing figures from the bank
Summarise a year of bank statements into one account. The gap is the missing figure: often drawings, or sales that were never banked.

A trader with no books still has bank statements. Summarise the year into one bank account, with money in on one side and money out on the other.

The two sides must add up to the same total. Money the owner moves to his own account is drawings.
