Take a percentage off a price, find what percentage a price was cut by, and see what happens to VAT when there is a discount.
Task 1Taking a discount off4 questions
A discount is an amount taken off a price. It is usually given as a percentage of the full price.
- Step 1: work out the percentage of the full price. That is the discount
- Step 2: take the discount away from the full price. That is the sale price
Worked example: a jacket at £80 with 30% off. 30% of £80 is £24. The sale price is £80 take away £24, which is £56.
